Closet Clean Out & Fall Wardrobe Edit Step 1: Prep | alexandra louise style

Hello friends, followers and readers alike-

I am writing to you at the beginning of a journey-a style journey that is. I am on a mission to redo my entire wardrobe and hopefully refuel the creative spirit. I am taking you along for the ride. Through the different parts I will be showing you how I eliminate things from my wardrobe, find new ones and start piecing together what I want to look like as I head into my 24th birthday (HOLY CRAP).

Coming to New York made brain go crazy. The streets are flooded with fashionable people everywhere, providing endless motivation and inspiration for looks. There were so many different ones and I just wanted to try them all. Surrounded by new stores and new inspiration, I knew I was headed for a change.

So, after months of buying a few things here and there...mainly items out of necessity and impulse, I decided it was time to take a time out and regroup.

Since college, I have been searching for "grown up my style." College is easy. You need class clothes (a.k.a. huge sweaters), party/ bar clothes (basically anything in the window of Forever 21) and a few nice things here and there for interviews. Style was more about trendy pieces matching your slightly dirty, slightly beer stained black leggings.

After moving, I wanted to literally throw everything I owned out and start again. I never touch my leggings, I realized I owned zero tops I can wear to work and I basically only like one pair of jeans I owned. I was never going out and finding the pieces I wish I had when I was getting ready in the mornings. Furthermore, as this is my first move out of college, I became fearful of spending too much. I always want to save for a rainy day and I found that when I was in stores I would just put something down I loved, because I wasn't ready to invest.

Which, is part of the reason I have been lacking in blog content. I felt until I fully could understand where I was going, it would be hard to create content that I liked. These past months have brought me to a new conclusion about "style." We can never pin point it. Personal style evolves, just as we do. That is the best part of fashion. Clothing allows us to be whoever we want, if just even for that day.

So now, I am ready. I have been waiting in a pool of confusion and let's be honest, just plain black t-shirts. I can visualize where I want my style to go and for the first time have the determination to complete it. So YOU can come along for the journey. Through the closet clean out, buying and new wardrobe reveal. I will bring you along.

I am starting with Fall, as it is our next season and I feel the best time for transitions. Below I have included a link to my Pinterest board I have started for inspiration.

Leave me a comment and let me know if there are any bloggers, friends or boards that inspire you!

Happy planning
xoxo
